Mechanics: Units, physical quantities, vectors, motion along a straight line, motion in two or three dimensions, Newton's laws of motion, work and kinetic energy, potential energy, momentum, impulse and collisions, rotation of rigid bodies, dynamics of rotational motion, elasticity, gravitation, periodic motion, fluid mechanics. Waves and Acoustics: mechanical waves, sound and hearing. Thermodynamics: temperature and heat, thermal properties of matter, the first and second law of thermodynamics. |

Compulsory attendance for theory lectures is 70% and for lab lectures 80%. |
